A Metaphor is a literary device that compares two things that supposedly different from one another, and shows their similarities. It is usually hidden or implied, and can be used to compare a range of non similar things. An example of a metaphor is when Eliza calls Higgins "a great brute". This does not mean that Higgins is literally an animal, it means that he is being crude by the way that he treats her.
